All is Good

Since leaving the tourist traps of Goa and Hampi, I've been infinitely happier. I find myself saying 'I Love India' several times a day, like a mantra. I really do. The people in the South seem particularly friendly, and there seems to be an abundance of oddbods. I've spent more time laughing my ass off this trip than in all the previous trips combined; not because anyone has tried to make me laugh, but because of bizarre and ridiculous situations. Sometimes it seems like I'm in the middle of some kind of beautifully written comedy film; it can be that ridiculous.

I won't go into the details of where I have been and what I have been up to over the last few weeks, but in a nutshell, I left Hampi and went on the road, stopping off at hill stations in Tamil Nadu (Ooty) and Kerala (Munnar) and doing several treks with Sam (including one through Parimbikulam Wildlife Park, where we saw wild elephant amongst other things), who I met in a hill station a few weeks ago. I've had a fantastic last few weeks. The trekking has been great and the travelling has been hilarious, not to mention the landscape, the food, the friendship, the people - everything.

After weeks of fairly intensive travelling, we've decided to chill for a few days. Well deserved, and much needed. We're staying in a tiny, deserted beach a kilometre from Varkala, which is a Keralan version of Goa - i.e. touristy, but without all the pretentious dicks. It's a paradise, and I feel like we have earnt the right to relax for a bit.

Amazing.
